Energy and Atmosphere

Beginning with the premise that buildings use up more than two-thirds of all electricity in the U.S., credits in this category seek to improve the energy performance for buildings, lower operational costs, reduce pollution from power plants, and enhance comfort. Credits reward improved glazing and insulation, better day lighting design, lighting power density reduction, high-efficiency HVAC8R equipment selection, renewable energy production and building commissioning.

EA Credit One: Optimize Energy Performance ~ This credit seeks to improve energy performance (above a baseline, EAp2) with energy-efficient strategies and equipment selection.

BSBG Integration: Integration in this category revolves around glazing-to save energy and protect birds-as well as fritting, shading, and building placement on the site.
